MEMORIAL BOOK

Why The Book Was Produced

The Memorial Book was produced as part of the national desire to mark the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War, and to honour those from our village who fell in what was also known at the time—for a while at least—as "The War to End All Wars". However it was decided that such a book should honour villagers who gave their lives in both World Wars, and a team of volunteer local contributors and researchers (their names are credited in the book itself) set to work to compile a record that would live up to this aim .

The Contents

The book contains some 44 pages, with short biographies of all the 27 men of Whiteparish who lost their lives (twenty in WW1, seven in WW2), photo portraits of some of them, and some more general contemporary photographs of both wars.
