Some very early MUGA users, on the day of the official opening
The Multi-Use Games Area (usually shortened to "MUGA", is the high-fenced area next to the children's play area in the Memorial Ground (adjacent to The Street). Opened on 11th June 2008, it is about the size of two tennis courts and indeed contains two tennis courts, but as the name suggests, it can be used for many other kinds of ball games, such as five-a-side football. In addition to regular bookings by local families and groups, it is also available for one-off bookings for events such as games-themed birthday parties (you can make bookings, and pay, at the village shop).
The MUGA is administered under the auspices of the Memorial Ground Trust, which does a sterling job in looking after the main recreational facility in the village, but always needs funds. So if you think you can think of any new uses for the MUGA that might help us raise some extra income, then please let us know ! |
MUGA HIRE
There is no charge to use the MUGA but Trustees ask that users assume “hire” periods of one hour and respectfully consider anyone then waiting to use the MUGA next.
Please Note: The special surface of the MUGA has a limited life. To help us keep it in good condition, please do not use footwear with spikes or studs. Bicycles and similar toys are also not allowed on the surface.
MEMORIAL GROUND HIRE
For costs of hiring the Memorial Ground, see the Memorial Ground Page.
