LEGION'S ROLE
The Legion provides practical, emotional and financial support to all members of the British Armed Forces past and present, and their families. Whereas the prime focus of Help for Heroes, a complementary charity, is to support the casualties of current conflict. Of course there is some mutual support involved between both bodies.
WHITEPARISH BRANCH

First and foremost the Branch is there to support Villagers who have been engaged in the defence of our Country. It also provides a focus for the annual Remembrance activities within the Church and Village: the most important of which are the Remembrance Services and the door to door selling of poppies.

MEMBERSHIP

It became apparent that the reduced number of ex-service men and women could not generate sufficient funding to help the growing population of people in need. As a result, a decision was reached to widen membership and to welcome non-military members. Membership is not an onerous task because in addition to the Remembrance activities the only meeting, which is voluntary, takes stock of our position in the Charity and identifies possible visits, lectures and activity. There is an annual subscription of £25 and all of the money goes to support worthy causes.
