Whiteparish Youth Group was founded in 2011 by a group of enthusiastic parent
volunteers who were keen to find a safe environment for their children who were growing up in a village
with no other indoor facilities for young people.
The new Memorial Centre provides a wonderful venue for WYG meetings which take
place every Friday evening. The majority of the current 50+ members come along
every week.
WYG activities include snooker, table tennis, table football, softball and basketball.
There are TVs with Wii and Xbox whilst an iPod dock plays the music.
Some members prefer to relax on one of the many giant bean bags and we provide
a Teen Zone during Winter months for years 9 and up (from 8—9.30). All take advantage
of the well-stocked tuck shop.
During the longer Summer evenings, there are outdoor games and activities.
We organise a number of trips each year which have included Thorpe Park, Ice Skating,
and Action Station Portsmouth. This year our first residential trip, a resounding
success, a weekend at PGL Isle of Wight during which we can proudly report the
behaviour of the WYG children was highly praised by the PGL staff. And of course we
couldn't do any of it without our wonderful parent and teen volunteers - our thanks
to you all!
In 2013 WYG was proud to be awarded Youth Club of the Year by Youth Options.

What Have We Been Up to?
A term and a half have flown by and Youth Group has been running very successfully on Friday evenings at the Memorial Centre from 7pm until 9pm for school years 7 to 11 with years 9 to 11 staying on until 9.30pm. The highlights have been our annual trip to Thorpe Park, which took place on Saturday 10th October and a Christmas ice skating trip to Winchester ice rink on Friday 18th December.
This year we have plenty of activities booked in on our Friday night sessions including art, music
and sport. We are also running our PGL residential trip in June and hope to visit the New Forest
Water Park in July. Our 70 members are in for a busy time!
We would like to thank St John’s Ambulance and the Whiteparish First Responders for supporting
and facilitating an excellent First Aid Training Course on Saturday 23rd January, when 11 of our
parent volunteers passed their Essential and Basic First Aid Course. Elizabeth and Neil were
fantastic and the course was extremely well planned and run. Our thanks also go the Parish Lantern
for the lovely lunch!
If anyone would like any information regarding membership or becoming a volunteer helper
