Some very early MUGA users, on the day of the official opening

The Multi-Use Games Area (usually shortened to "MUGA", is the high-fenced area next to the children's play area in the Memorial Ground (adjacent to The Street). Opened on 11th June 2008, it is about the size of two tennis courts and indeed contains two tennis courts, but as the name suggests, it can be used for many other kinds of ball games, such as five-a-side football. In addition to regular bookings by local families and groups, it is also available for one-off bookings for events such as games-themed birthday parties (you can make bookings, and pay, at the village shop).

The MUGA is administered under the auspices of the Memorial Ground Trust, which does a sterling job in looking after the main recreational facility in the village, but always needs funds. So if you think you can think of any new uses for the MUGA that might help us raise some extra income, then please let us know !

The minimum hire period is one hour for any activity. After the first hour, bookings may be extended in half-hour increments.
Use of whole area £10 per hour
Use of one tennis court £5 per hour
Under 18s:
Use of whole area £5 per hour
Use of one tennis court £2.50 per hour

There is no membership scheme for users of the MUGA; just enquire about availability and mske your bookings at the shop.

Please Note:The special surface of the MUGA has a limited life. To help us keep it in good condition, please do not use footwear with spikes or studs. Bicycles and similar toys are also not allowed on the surface. Please return your key promptly at the end of your hire period.
